This time I was able to actually kill something, some worms, but the game told me that I shouldn't kill them. Like.. why. They are worms and enemies. The I was quickly killed by ant-something when I was trying to find out why numpad diagonal keys don't work. I didn't land a single hit, maybe because diagonal keys don't work in numpad? I tried both num lock on or off.
The user interface is still confusing. You have Space, Return, Esc and both mouse buttons to perform actions, but they seem to work different way in some situations. For example Esc doesn't always exit the current window, you need to use Space to continue. It's just confusing. I'm hitting all the wrong keys and buttons all the time! Well, it's not that bad actually, it's just an user interface.
The game itself seems to be pretty simple. I can't say, because I always die very soon when I can't hit the monster for some reason. This is becoming a game I love to hate.

Then you obviously played a character believing in Ares. Their religion prevents caveworms from being killed. It's like people in India who don't kill cows. The message "Your code of conduct forbids you to kill caveworms!" should be clear about this.
You might also notice that caveworms don't attack by themselves. They are peaceful and only stand in the way sometimes.

Well, THIS is interesting. Unfortunately I cannot confirm this, because with NumLock Off it works for me, both in console and in SDL mode, on Ubuntu, Windows (XP and Vista) and with Wine. If somebody else could confirm this, I would be very happy.
However, you should still be able to use Vi-keys.

ESC should exit all menus and dialogs where you can do something. SPACE should exit all messages and texts where you can only read.

Another statement for my collection of statements about LambdaRogue. ;)
But worms? I want to kill stuff! Anyway, I tried again and diagonal arrows work when num lock is off.
Then I noticed something odd. I tried to hit a worm. This time I could attack them I guess, but nothing happened. No messages that I was hit. Killed by a caveworm. The game seemed to get stuck, maybe that's what happened before and it looked like numpad was not working.
So, do I understand you correctly:
- you tried to hit the enemy
- then the game appeared to be stuck
- then the game over screen showed up, because you were dead
?
Investigated now the NumPad issue. 3 and 9 do not work, because PgUp and PgDn are on these keys. As long as I did not process these two, it somehow worked. Since 1.0 I process them, so it's broken.
So I have to change NumPad processing to work with NumPad switched on -- so the real numbers will be processed.
Thank you, Krice.
